Dave: Thanks for resurrecting Dove for us ! What`s going on right now with the band?
Henry: Working on new sounds, new ideas, playing here and there keeping things positive and sharp. Id like to have our time be our time all the time, so we could just jam and not have to do shit except play…
Dave: I hear you just learned "Achilles Last Stand." Sounds like a killer potential Dove cover!
Henry: Yeah, I didn’t learn it for my health. Ha ha. We’re working with it so we`ll see.
Dave: I first saw you on drums with Floor, and didn`t realize at first that you actually played guitar in Dove. Which instrument is your "first love?"
Henry: Guitar. Les Paul attack to be exact.
Dave: I guess I gotta ask, bro. What happened with Floor? I hated to see a great band go down.
Henry: It just seemed right for me to call it a day, I was way happier out playing guitar and the vibe around that seems better for me right now. I still speak to the others all the time. I think distance and time were factors, we all lived hours from each other, which was difficult. In time I think we all wanted to move forward and be happy. The band didn’t survive its own stresses, financial, creative, and personal.
Dave: A lot of folks may not know your history. Can you give us a quick run-through? Cavity ruled!
Henry: History... played in Cavity, Floor, and Dove. There have been a few others here and there but these have recorded output.
Dave: Dove sounds "big" for just being a trio. Is it tough for you to cover all that ground live? You make it look pretty breezy, brother!
Henry: Breezy like a palm tree. In seriousness, it takes time, but it doesn`t seem that we have to stretch ourselves too thin, volume is master that gives control. We don’t practice, we party. That’s what we like to call it, sounds less like work. So we party a lot, and enjoy our sound. We party on the sonics involved,,, if they "cut" or not. Feel is very important, vibration has to come correct.
Dave: It`s the ol` standard questions: First, if I looked on your turntable or in your CD changer right now, what would I find ?
Henry: Led Zeppelin - Presence, Augustus Pablo - East of the River Nile, and two King Tubby discs.
Dave: The other standard: If you could only take three albums to Siberia, what would they be ?
Henry: Rush - Permanent Waves, Bad Brains -ROIR, and King Tubby - In Fine Style.
